From The Soapbox

A large THANK YOU to all the people that have forwarded news items, family history, family tree information and just some encouragement! The first stage of our record archiving is very close to completion. If you have information that you wish to have scanned into the John Gaither Descendants files for inclusion on a DVD, now is the time to do it.I have all the files in my possession scanned and ready to be burned to a disk. Some folks have sent in nicely done files that are easy to read to add. Even the hard to read ones are appreciated. These files are added as a file in the name of the donor. There are more than 300 files, some huge, others a single page but all readyfor the pleasure of the group.

The family tree entry is not as far along. We have endured a very wet, cold winter this year which has afforded me time to work on these projects. With the scanning of the files complete, I will be able to focus on the tree entries. When is the last time you updated your line???

On a seperate note, the Iredell County Genealogical Society has the files of Dr P F Laugenour on DVD. He was president of the Iredell County Historical Society around the turn of the last century and happened to marry into the Gaither family. There is a huge amount of Gaither information in these. Dr Laugenour wrote several aricles for the newspapers.

Once again, if you have articles you wish to have published in our newsletter, please forward them to me and I will get them in on a space available basis Please remember, we have to have a head count for the activities by 1 April !! Please hurry and get the registrations to Jonell. This is going to be a really busy meeting but I think it will be most enjoyable and educational. There will be time to look up information on the tree as I will bring what I have with me.
