Greetings!
I am sure you all are happy to see Spring after our Global Warming Winter. We here in New Jersey have had our fill of snow. Spring is here and it is again time to think about our annual Gaither Reunion and I hope all of you are making plans to join your cousins in Jamestown, VA. We are going back to the old home place where John Gaither first stepped off the boat and we have plans for all of us to have a lot of fun.
Ms. Melba Kundly, with the assistance of her daughter, Ms. Nancy Jones, has worked hard and made a real effort for our Society to keep prices to a minimum in this very busy tourist area.
The Gaither Gathering this year is to be held in thje Historical Triangle of Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and the Yorktown Battlefield area. Because of this busy area, it was decided to move the date of our reunion to the earlier dates of May 20th through the 22nd.
We are staying at the "Crown Plaza of Williamsburg at Fort Magruder" which is within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg area. Two free breakfasts are included with each room. The dinner and lunch have the Southern Cuisine which we Jersey Yankees are looking forward to. Can you taste those delicious desserts??
We are very fortunate this year to have as our speaker at the family dinner, Beverly "Bly" Straube, Historic Jamestowne's Senior Curator. She personally gave Queen Elizabeth a tour of Jamestown during her visit in 2007, the 400th anniversary of the settlement. Jamestown is where it all started for our country and for the Gaithers in America. Those of you who have never visited Colonial Williamsburg, this may be a good time to consider a visit there also. You will find it enjoyable and educational. We have been there several times and discover something new on each occasion.
Remember, reservations have to be made earlier this year and the CUT OFF DATE is 29 April 2010 for the Crown Plaza, The CUT OFF DATE is 1 April 2010 for the activities. So please make your reservations early. All you cousins are waiting to see you.
